
BIOGRAPHY OF HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS
NORODOM BUPPHA DEVI OF CAMBODIA
Her Royal Highness Princess Norodom Buppha Devi
was born on January 8th, 1943 in Phnom Penh, daughter of His Majesty King
Norodom Sihanouk and the late Neak Moneang Phat Kanhol. Her Royal Highness
attended and finished her high school at College Preah Norodom. She entered the
traditional dance class at the age of five years old. At the age of 15 she
became the shining star of the Royal Ballet. She performed numerous dances and
met with great success and subsequently was granted the title of prima ballerina
at the age of 18 years old.
H.R.H Princess Norodom Buppha Devi married in 1959.
She has five children:
1. H.H. Princess Sisowath Moni Kossoma, born in 1960.
2. H.H. Princess Sisowath Kalyan Tevi, born in 1961.
3. H.H. Princess Norodom Chansita, born in 1965.
4. H.H. Prince Sisowath Chivannariddh, born in 1968.
5. H.H. Prince Sisowath Veakchiravuddh, born in 1973.
From 1965 to 1970 : Professor of culture and traditional dance.
From 1991 to 1993 : Deputy Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
From 1993 to 1998 : Advisor to the Royal Government in charge of
Culture and Fine Arts.
From 1999 to present : Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
From 1993 to 1997 : Vice President of the Cambodian Red Cross.
From 2000 to present : President of the Cambodian-Chinese
Association.
Languages : Apart from Khmer She has good spoken and written
communication in French.
On January 24th, 1994, His Majesty the King elevated Her Royal Highness to the rank of Samdech Reach Botrei Preah Ream.
Her Royal Highness was given the Monisaraphom Class Moha Sereivadh
of the Royal Order by His Majesty the King on May 16th, 2001.
She was given the Samdech Preah Moha Khsat Trei Yani Preah Sisowath
Monivong Kossomak Nearyrath Class Moha Sereivadh of the Royal Order by His Majesty the King on October 22nd, 2001.
